Women at Abergeldie

Abergeldie is committed to increasing the participation of women in all aspects of the building and construction industry.

Until recently Abergeldie employed fewer than 100 people, which was below the threshold level requiring formal compliance with the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workforce Act.  Never the less, Abergeldie has a history of commitment to increasing the participation of females in the building and construction industry. To that end, in 2010 we developed and published an Equal Employment Opportunity Policy Statement.

Since then, Abergeldie’s employee numbers have increased significantly and we have therefore commenced a formal EOWW compliance programme. The necessary analysis has commenced to prepare a detailed corporate EOWW profile and a consultative process has been set up to commence identification of issues and to propose strategies and plan actions. We expect to make our first annual report to EOWA in April 2012.

As at 1 April 2011, 12 per cent of our employees were female. In senior technical roles such as engineering, project management, estimating, marketing and human resources management, 6 per cent of our employees were female.
